Saturday: Pick up at Figline Val D’arno Station

The tour will officially start when you are picked up from the Central Station of Figliene Val D’arno.  From there, we will take you to your Tuscan home away from home, a quaint apartment in a Tuscan farmhouse.

Sunday: The Casentino Valley

If you’re looking to discover a piece of Tuscany that you will forever carry in your heart, you will not be disappointed with the Casentino Valley. We’ll give you an insider view of this Tuscan gem as we follow the path of the ancient castles and villages that were developed by the Old Roman Empire. We will uncover the spiritual part of Tuscany that is all too often disregarded on contemporary tours of the region. A Tuscany that is rich in surprise and breathtaking moments awaits.

We will have lunch in Poppi, an unforgettable medieval village that far too many visitors to Tuscany completely overlook. This city is home to spellbinding stories and fascinating mysteries that are waiting for you to uncover. We will end our journey with a trip to the ancient monastery of Saint Francis of Assisi before enjoying dinner in one of the best pizzerias in the area.

MONDAY: Wine, cheese and lots of beef (the world famous Chianina)

Montalcino —-> Montepulciano—> Val di Chiana

Today, we will visit Montalcino, which is renowned for Brunello di Montalcino, a red wine that is widely regarded as one of the top three red wines in the world. You’ll have an opportunity to learn more about this wine with a visit to one of the region’s most prestigious winery and cellars.

Later, we will visit Montepulciano, a famous medieval village that is replete with Tuscan history and an area of the region that is renowned for its cultural summer festival and fairs.

Our tour will continue with a visit to the city walls, where you’ll have an opportunity to watch skilled tradesmen and women at work using traditional manufacturing techniques to shape copper in their old artisan shops. We’ll also stop by some of the characteristic enoteche (wine shops).

The day will end at one of the oldest farms of the Val di Chiana for a dinner of Chianina IGP beef, Cinta Senese pork and fabulous local wine.

Tuesday: Cooking class and local villages festivals “sagre”

On the third day of our tour, you can choose between enjoying a cooking class with our wonderful Manuela, with whom you will prepare dinner, or we will take you to the train station from where you can travel to Firenze by train. From June to September we will be joining the local villagers as they enjoy their vibrant summer festivals.

Wednesday: The Chianti Region

This is a day that the wine aficionados among the group will enjoy because it is entirely dedicated to wine. We will visit a number of castles, wineries and cellars to learn the intimate story of Chianti’s famous wine. You will also get a chance to learn about and sample the region’s fine extra virgin olive oil.

Once we have sampled the delicious offerings of Chianti, we will progress to Greve, home to the most famous butcher and deli shop in Tuscany and the ideal place for you to buy the best produce of the area.

On our way back, we will stop at a family-run trattoria where you will enjoy an authentic Tuscan meal.

Thursday: La Maremma Toscana

La Maremma —> Cantina Antinori —> Castiglione della Pescaia

Today, we will venture into the heart of the Tuscan countryside to enjoy some of its extraordinary landscapes.

We will visit the Cantina Antinori, one of the most famous wine-producing families in the world, before visiting a local farm at which you can taste the typical produce of the area. We will then progress to one of the nicest beaches in Tuscany, which is located near Castiglione della Pescaia, a wonderful medieval castle that is famous for its delightful views, delicious restaurants and vibrant nightlife. From there, you can experience a day at the beach where you will be able to walk among the locals, enjoy an Italian aperitivo, and enjoy a fantastic dinner at one of the fanciest Italian “corso” (street).

Friday: The Pratomagno mountain

Today you will have a chance to experience the exclusive beauty and mystery of the Pratomagno, one of the most fascinating mountains in Tuscany. It was here that the Australian explorer and WWI hero Herbert John Louis Hinkler crashed in his attempt to fly from England to Australia. The tour commences with a visit to the quaint village of Loro Ciuffenna and an opportunity to witness the breathtaking beauty of Gropina’s Roman church. We will then visit several of the tiny medieval villages that are dotted across the mountainous landscape where we will have the opportunity to taste the local produce. The day will end with an aperitivo at the summit of Pratomagno, where you will enjoy a breathtaking sunset before dinner.

Saturday: Drop off  at Figline Val D’arno Station

CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS:

All tours, travel arrangements and accommodations are secure from the time of confirmation of booking. Consequently a cancellation fee will apply on all cancellations.
If you cancel your tour reservation for any reason, your first deposit of 25% is non-refundable. If you cancel 90 days before tour starting date: 75% of your total tour cost is refundable. If you cancel between 90 days and 60 days before tour starting date: 50% of your total tour cost is refundable for physician documented emergency medical reasons or for police documented cases of accident, flood, fire, or crime. Cancellations less than 60 days from the tour start date, a cancellation fee equal to 100% of the tour cost will apply.
We do not provide refunds for: non-medical personal problems; air carrier delays or cancellations; inability to obtain passports; business problems or emergencies; etc.
In the unlikely event or if the tour fails to fill with the necessary minimum number of participants required (2 people), you would be entitled to a 100% refund in full.

COST/EXCHANGE RATES:

Prices and tariffs quoted for the tours are subject to change without notice in the event of unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, such as significant currency fluctuations.

INSURANCE:

You are required to purchase your own travel insurance to cover cancellation coverage, airline tickets, trip delay, lost luggage or any potential medical expenses, personal accident and sickness, emergency repatriation and personal liability. It is advisable to take specific cover for ambulance through the respective State ambulance providers or through their own private health insurance.
Please note that travellers on Tuscany Untouched tours must have comprehensive travel insurance. We will require evidence including policy number, insurers name and emergency contact number before we finalise your booking.

LUGGAGE:

You are allowed one suitcase and one carry-on bag. If you exceed this limit there may not be space in the vehicle to transport your excess luggage and it will be at your own expense to have it transported. We suggest that you bring a day pack for carrying water, guide books, jacket, rain gear, etc.

STRENUOUS WALKING

Most medieval towns were built as hilltop fortifications, so you will find some challenging climbs. There is a lot of walking on our tours and you will spend a lot of time on your feet while sightseeing. Age is not important as long as you are physically fit and a strong walker. Our tours are not suited for anyone who has problems with knees, back, heart or obesity.

SINGLE TRAVELLERS:

Single travellers are provided a private apartment. The additional single supplement cost will apply.

PRICES:

Our recommended tours and dates, as listed on our web site, are guaranteed once a booking is confirmed. Your additional expenses will be for non-included meals, moderate tipping where appropriate, and personal sightseeing or shopping.LIMIT OF LIABILITY:

No responsibility is accepted for any loss, expense, accident, injury, or damage to any person or property due to the actions or omissions of any person, or any cause, including but not limited to acts of God, acts of terrorism, war, strikes, defects in machinery, breakdown of equipment, weather, quarantine, negligence, loss of baggage, or other causes beyond our control, such losses being the responsibility of the guest.

MEMBERSHIP ON TOUR:

Tuscany Untouched Pty Ltd reserves the right to accept, reject, or not retain any person as a tour participant whose condition or general deportment impedes the operation of the tour or, in the opinion of the tour manager, affects the rights and enjoyment of other guests. A guest not retained on tour shall have no cause for complaint or refund, and shall bear any and all extra expenses that ensue.

All information on this website is, to the best of our knowledge, correct. However, we reserve the right to make changes in accommodations, visits, and itineraries at any time should it become necessary or desirable. Delays or itinerary changes caused by strikes, bad weather, traffic, or other unforeseen circumstances are beyond our control and we are not obliged to pay guests compensation.

You are aware that travel within a group may involve compromise to accommodate the diverse desires and physical abilities of group members. You understand that Tuscany Untouched reserves the right to decline, accept, or retain any person as a member of the group at any time. To the best of Tuscany Untouched’s knowledge, these third parties are qualified to perform the duties they are contracted to perform. However Tuscany Untouched  will not be held liable for any injury, damage, loss, delay or irregularity that may occur due to the behaviour of these third parties. Tuscany Untouched will not accept responsibility or liability for any traveller who contravenes any law or regulation of any country visited. No employee, servant or agent of Tuscany Untouched Pty Ltd has authority to vary these conditions.

CONFIRMATION BOOKING FORM

All Tuscany Untouched travellers on group trips must sign a Booking Form. Please note that signing the form is a pre-requisite of travelling with Tuscany Untouched Pty Ltd. The wording of this form follows.

“I understand that touring with Tuscany Untouched Pty Ltd may involve risks (and rewards) above and beyond those encountered on a more conventional holiday, and that I am undertaking a physical trip with inherent dangers. I understand that I am travelling to geographical areas where, amongst other things, the standard of accommodation, transport, safety, hygiene, cleanliness, medical facilities, telecommunications and infrastructure development may not be of the standard I am used to at home or would find on a conventional holiday. I have read and understood the Tuscany Untouched tour notes for the trip I am undertaking and have provided details of any pre-existing medical conditions I have to Tuscany Untouched Pty Ltd  representatives. I accept these risks and obligations and I fully assume the risks of travel. Monday: The charming mistery of Volterra

Today we will be spending the day visiting the mysteries of Volterra, another charming medieval town in central Tuscany, a precious town situated in the province of Pisa, not far from Florence, Siena and the coast as well. The area is particularly known for its Etruscan origins and for the many archaeological remains belonging to the 4th century BC. In the afternoon we will visit San Giminiano, famous for its fascinating medieval architecture and towers that rise above of all the other buildings offering an impressive view of the city from the surrounding valley. At the height of its glory, San Gimignano’s patrician families had built around 72 tower-houses as a symbol of their wealth and power. Although only 14 have survived, San Giminiano still retains its feudal atmosphere and magical appearance. We will have dinner there before returning to our farm house.

Tuesday: Art, Culture and History driving a Fiat 500

Anghiari —> Arezzo

Are you ready to come on board one the most iconic cars in the world, the original Fiat 500?
This day is entirely dedicated to art. We will visit the ancient village of Anghiari, considered one of the most beautiful of Italy.
Later we will visit Arezzo to admire the masterpieces of celebrated renaissance painters Piero della Francesca and Giorgio Vasari, the magnificent cathedral, the Piazza Grande and much more. We will get there on board our Fiat 500 driving pass the super Tuscan countryside while driving on the local roads. Dinner will be at one the historic pizzeria in Castelfranco di Sopra

Wednesday: On the road

Today you will be able to manage your time by yourself.
With a road limit of 80 km you will be able to visit many other areas of interest on board your fabulous Fiat 500. We will provide you with recommendations and itineraries but you will be free to decide where and when to stop.

THURSDAY: Pratomagn’s Mountain on the wheels

Starting towards Ciuffenna visiting the village and the Romanic church in Gropina. The following stops will focus on visiting the tiny little medieval villages that dot the mountainous area and there we will have the opportunity to taste the local produces.

This day we will visit Montepulciano, renowned for its red wine Brunello di Montalcino (regularly one of the top 3 red wines in the world), with a visit to one of its most prestigious winery and cellar.
Later we will visit Pienza, a renaissance village from where Pope Pius II came from. Within its city walls we will visit the Pope palazzi and savour the well-known cheese Pecorino di Pienza.
Our visit will carry on the city walls where you will be fascinated by the old artisan shops working on copper the traditional way and popping by some of the characteristic enoteche (wine shops).
The day will end at one of the oldest farms of the Val di Chiana for a dinner based on Chianina IGP beef, Cinta senese pork and fabulous local wine.
